Michael Carlson has built homes in partnership with the community and Dane County families for the last ten years. He comes to the Land Trust from Habitat for Humanity, where he served on staff the last three-and-a-half years, working to buy land and develop building projects on behalf of Habitat homeowners. From 2001-2006, Michael led groups of young people at Operation Fresh Start in the construction both of affordable housing and a better life for themselves. Michael participated as a neighborhood representative in the Union Corners Design Studio, and served as a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity from 1999 until he joined staff there in 2006.
Michael is married to Ellen Carlson, and has been blessed with two sons: Four-year-old Henrik, and his one-year-old brother, Abbott.
